The Snowball became a British holiday staple in the mid-20th century, largely due to the marketing of Advocaat by the Dutch brand Warninks. Its origin as a commercial cocktail is disputed, though the drink is inextricably linked with Warninks' promotional campaigns from the 1950s onward.
