History & Origins
The Snowball became a British holiday staple in the mid-20th century, largely due to the marketing of Advocaat by the Dutch brand Warninks. The combination of the rich, egg-yolk-based liqueur with sparkling lemonade became a predictable fixture at British Christmas gatherings and pub holiday menus. Its origin as a commercial cocktail is disputed, though the drink is inextricably linked with Warninks' promotional campaigns from the 1950s onward.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: Sweet, custardy Advocaat with lemon zest and gentle effervescence from the lemonade. Palate: Rich and creamy from the Advocaat's egg and vanilla base, softened and lifted by the sweet-tart lemonade; the combination is light and approachable despite the Advocaat's density. Finish: Sweet, slightly tart, and creamy with a clean, refreshing lemon finish.
