- Sugar 1 cup
- Water 2 cups hot
- Apple 1 cup
- Orange wedges
- Lime wedges

Dissolve the sugar in hot water and cool. Peel the citrus fruits and break into wedges. Mix the wine, sugar syrup, fruit, and Fresca in a pitcher and put in the fridge for a few hours. Serve in tall glasses with a straw.

Sweet Sangria is a North American adaptation of Spanish sangria, amplified in sweetness and volume to suit large social gatherings. The use of Fresca — an American grapefruit soda — in place of plain soda water is a distinctly American adaptation that adds carbonation and grapefruit flavor. The recipe is a modern domestic creation of disputed origin, likely developed as a party standard in the United States from the 1970s onward.
