Warm Strong

History & Origins

Kioki Coffee is believed to have been created at Bully's Restaurant in San Diego, California in the 1970s, where the combination of brandy, Kahlúa, and coffee was popularized. Its name is thought to derive from an Anglicization of a Japanese word for 'happy,' though this etymology is disputed. It became a popular American restaurant dessert drink through the 1980s.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Rich roasted coffee leading, with Kahlúa's sweet rum-vanilla and brandy's warming fruit-oak underneath. Palate: Bold and bittersweet — coffee's intensity is heightened by Kahlúa and softened by the cream, while brandy adds a warm, fruity depth. Finish: Long and warming, with persistent coffee-bitterness and a sweet Kahlúa afterglow.

Pro Tip

Warm the coffee mug first by filling with hot water, then pouring it out before adding the cocktail — this keeps the drink hot for longer.
