Instrucciones
Pour the vodka, dry vermouth and olive brine into a cocktail shaker with a handful of ice and shake well. Rub the rim of a martini glass with the wedge of lemon.
History & Origins
The original Dirty Martini, using gin, is believed to have appeared in the early 20th century as bartenders began experimenting with olive brine from garnish jars. The vodka variation gained widespread popularity in the latter half of the 20th century alongside the broader shift from gin to vodka in martini culture. The IBA recognized the vodka version in its New Era Drinks category.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: clean vodka spirit, briny olive, and the floral, slightly herbal note of dry vermouth. Palate: savory and salty from the olive brine with a crisp vodka backbone and herbal vermouth softness. Finish: clean, salty, and lingering with an olive richness.
Pro Tip
Shake vigorously with ice to achieve a slightly diluted, ice-cold result, and garnish with quality cocktail olives stuffed with pimento for the classic presentation.
