History & Origins
Almeria takes its name from the coastal city in southern Spain, though the cocktail's precise origin and the connection to its namesake city are disputed. The combination of dark rum, coffee liqueur, and egg white places it in the tradition of creamy, spirit-forward cocktails that were popular in mid-20th century American and European bars. The use of Kahlúa as the coffee component became widespread after the liqueur's international distribution expanded in the 1960s.

Aroma: Rich coffee and roasted cacao from the Kahlúa, with dark rum's molasses and a clean egg-white neutrality. Palate: Smooth and creamy from the emulsified egg white; coffee sweetness from the Kahlúa integrates with the dark rum's tropical fruit and molasses character.
