Open the Corona. Fill the empty space in the neck in the bottle with the rum. The bottle should be filled to the top. Plug the bottle with your thumb or the palm of your hand. Turn the bottle upside-down so the rum and beer mix. Turn the bottle rightside-up, unplug, and drink.
Limona Corona is a beer cocktail that blends a bottle of Corona lager with Bacardi Limón rum, creating a citrus-forward, lightly boosted beach drink. The rum is inserted into the neck of the inverted bottle, allowing it to slowly cascade and mix through the lager. It is an informal, easy-drinking variant of the classic beer-and-citrus combination.
History & Origins
Origin is disputed, but the Limona Corona likely emerged from American beach and bar culture in the 1990s and early 2000s when flavored rums became widely popular. It borrows the showmanship of the Corona-with-lime ritual and amplifies it with Bacardi Limón. The inverted bottle technique is a nod to the depth-charge style cocktail presentation.
