The Affinity cocktail dates to the late 19th century and appears in early 20th century cocktail guides, making it one of the classic Scotch cocktails of the pre-Prohibition era. It is structurally related to the Perfect Manhattan, substituting Scotch for rye or bourbon and adding orange bitters for a citrus dimension. Its origin is disputed, though it likely emerged from New York or London bar culture.
