- Angostura Bitters 4 dashes
- Tonic water 1 dl Schweppes

Shake a tall glass with ice cubes and Angostura, coating the inside of the glass. Por the vodka onto this, add 1 slice of lime and squeeze juice out of remainder, mix with tonic, stir and voila you have a Long Vodka
Long Vodka is a tall refreshment combining vodka, fresh lime juice, Angostura bitters, and tonic water, served in a bitters-coated highball glass over ice. The Angostura rinse perfumes the glass and adds aromatic complexity to what is otherwise a clean, simple drink. It is a sophisticated alternative to the standard Vodka Tonic.
History & Origins
Long Vodka is an informal modern cocktail, origin disputed, that borrows the bitters-coating technique from classic preparation methods like the Trinidad Sour and the Angostura Sour. The concept of rinsing the glass with bitters before adding the main spirit emerged from both Caribbean and European bartending traditions. Its combination of vodka and tonic places it in the long-drink category that grew popular through the latter 20th century.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: Aromatic clove and spice from the Angostura bitters, backed by fresh lime juice and clean vodka. Palate: Refreshing and lightly bitter with tonic quinine, citrus tartness, and vodka clean sweetness. Finish: Crisp and dry with lingering aromatic bitters.
Pro Tip
Pour the Angostura bitters into the ice-filled glass first and swirl to coat the interior before adding the vodka, lime, and tonic.
