Mudslinger is a large-format party punch made with a full bottle of Southern Comfort, a litre of orange juice, and a large bottle of Pepsi Cola, stirred together in a punch bowl. The sweet peach-and-whiskey character of the Southern Comfort melds with the citrusy orange juice and the caramel-cola notes of the Pepsi for a deceptively drinkable punch. History & Origins
Mudslinger belongs to the American tradition of Southern Comfort-based party punches that became popular in the mid-20th century, when pre-mixed liqueur drinks gained traction at informal social gatherings. Southern Comfort itself was created by M.W. Heron in New Orleans around 1874. The exact origin of the Mudslinger recipe is disputed, though it appears in home entertaining guides from the 1970s and 1980s.
