History & Origins
The Loch Lomond cocktail takes its name from the famous Scottish lake and was developed as a showcase for Scottish spirits. Its origin is disputed, though cocktails combining Scotch and Drambuie appeared in early 20th-century bar manuals. The addition of dry vermouth gives it a subtle continental sophistication alongside its unmistakably Scottish character.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: Warm Scotch malt with heather honey and herbal notes from the Drambuie, lifted by bright lemon peel. Palate: Rich and full-bodied, with whisky warmth, honeyed spice, and a dry vermouth backbone providing structure. Finish: Long, warming, and bittersweet with lingering honey and peat.
Pro Tip
Stir gently over ice for at least 30 seconds to properly chill and dilute without over-watering the whisky.
